Problems we fix, and the usual causes

Confirm it's plugged in, the door closes squarely, and the breaker hasn't tripped. If you see scorch marks, smell burning, or it sparks, unplug it and leave it alone. Don't run it empty as a test, and don't open the high-voltage area.

What happens on the visit

Repair or replace?

Door switches, fuses, turntable motors and touchpads are usually worth fixing. A magnetron on a cheap countertop unit can cost close to a new microwave. Over-the-range units are often worth repairing because replacement means matching the hood and cabinet cutout.

The magnetron and the main control board. We quote before ordering either one.

How much is a service call?

$150. If you go ahead with the repair, we waive it, so you only pay for the repair.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes. Parts and labor are covered for 90 days.
