Samsung Refrigerator Error Codes

Samsung fridges show codes on the display when a sensor, fan or the ice maker has a problem. Codes vary by model, so check your manual. These are the ones we see most often.

Common codes

CodeWhat it usually means
OF OFShowroom (demo) mode. The lights work but the fridge won’t cool. Your manual shows the button combination to turn it off.
1E / 2EFreezer (1E) or fridge (2E) temperature sensor fault.
4E / 5EDefrost sensor (4E) or defrost problem in the freezer (5E). Often comes with frost on the back panel.
8EIce maker sensor fault.
21E / 22EFreezer fan (21E) or fridge fan (22E) fault. Ice on the fan or a bad motor.
33E / 39EIce maker fill tube heater (33E) or ice maker function problem (39E).

What to do

Try a reset first: unplug the fridge or flip its breaker for a few minutes. If the code comes back, the part behind it needs attention.

The service call is $150, waived if you go ahead with the repair, and the repair is covered for 90 days on parts and labor.
