Samsung Ice Maker Not Working
Samsung French-door fridges with the ice maker in the fridge door are known for ice building up in the ice compartment. The fill tube, valve and ice maker itself are the other usual suspects.
Common causes
- Ice buildup in the ice room. Frost forms around the ice maker and jams it.
- Frozen fill tube. Water freezes before it reaches the tray.
- Water filter or inlet valve. Low flow, small cubes, then none.
- Ice maker assembly. The motor or sensor fails.
- Ice room fan or seal. Warm air gets in, or cold air doesn’t circulate.
Checks you can do safely
Turn off power (and water or gas where it applies) before you reach inside any appliance.
- Check the ice maker is turned on in the display.
- Take the bin out and look for ice packed around the ice maker.
- Change the filter if it’s due.
- Many Samsung models have an ice maker test button. Your manual shows where.
