Problems we fix, and the usual causes

Pull the grease filters and wash them in hot soapy water. Check that the outside damper flap opens when the fan runs. A clogged filter or stuck damper causes more weak-suction calls than a dead motor.

What happens on the visit

Repair or replace?

Motors, switches, lights and capacitors are standard fixes. If the hood shell is rusted through or the ductwork inside the cabinet was never vented outside, we'll talk through whether repair or a new hood makes more sense.

Exhaust Fan repair FAQ

Do you repair range hoods and bathroom exhaust fans?

Kitchen range hoods and kitchen exhaust fans are what we work on. Call and ask about anything else.

My hood vents back into the kitchen. Is that a problem?

Recirculating hoods use a charcoal filter instead of a duct. If suction is weak, start with clean grease filters and a fresh charcoal filter before assuming the motor is bad.

Can you clean the duct?

We check the hood and the short run we can reach. A long roof duct packed with grease may need a vent-cleaning company.

How much is a service call?

$150. If you go ahead with the repair, we waive it, so you only pay for the repair.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Yes. Parts and labor are covered for 90 days.

What are your hours?
